🌐 Cette page en français · Deze pagina in het Nederlands

Little coves between the rocks, long sandy beaches backed by dunes and pine trees, town beaches with a promenade: from Guardamar to Pilar de la Horadada, the coast has more than 25 Blue Flag beaches in 2026. Here are the main ones, area by area, to help you choose yours.

Orihuela Costa: 10 Blue Flag beaches

Along 16 km of coastline, mostly sandy coves below the residential neighbourhoods, from north to south:

  • Punta Prima 🔵: a small, well-equipped beach, with a promenade and a lift for people with reduced mobility. See Punta Prima.
  • Cala Estaca 🔵 and Cala Cerrada 🔵: the coves of Playa Flamenca.
  • Cala del Bosque 🔵: La Zenia's beach, 258 m, with access for people with reduced mobility.
  • Cala Capitán 🔵 and La Caleta 🔵: the beaches of Cabo Roig; La Caleta (287 m) is right by the marina.
  • Calas de Aguamarina 🔵: a string of small coves between Cabo Roig and Campoamor.
  • La Glea 🔵 (513 m) and Barranco Rubio 🔵 (655 m): the long beaches of Campoamor.
  • Mil Palmeras 🔵: right at the southern end, on the border with Pilar de la Horadada.

Torrevieja: 6 Blue Flag beaches in town

In Torrevieja, the beach is at the end of the street: you walk there from the centre, and the promenades link the beaches together.

  • El Cura 🔵 and Los Locos 🔵: the big town-centre beaches, with bars and restaurants all around.
  • Los Náufragos 🔵: near the port.
  • Cala Piteras 🔵: to the south, towards Punta Prima. Our Sea Senses apartment is 50 m away.
  • Cabo Cervera 🔵 and La Mata 🔵 (southern part): north of the town; La Mata is a long sandy beach.

For a town stay right by the sea: our apartment 30 m from the beach. More ideas on the Torrevieja page.

A little further: the Guardamar dunes and the beaches of Pilar de la Horadada

🌲 Guardamar del Segura (to the north)

  • Els Vivers 🔵 (1.2 km): a natural beach below the dunes and the pine forest.
  • Platja Centre 🔵 and La Roqueta 🔵: the town beaches, along the promenade; La Roqueta has access for people with reduced mobility.
  • El Moncaio 🔵 (1.4 km): sunbeds, parasols and lifeguards in summer.
  • El Camp 🔵 (2 km) and Les Ortigues 🔵: big, wild beaches backed by dunes, towards Torrevieja.

In Guardamar, our Oasis Beach Resort Guardamar apartment (El Raso) is 5 km from Playa del Camp: sleeps 4, pool open all year and a free spa you can book, stays of 11 nights or more.

🏰 Pilar de la Horadada (to the south)

  • Mil Palmeras 🔵: a long sandy beach, with an evening market in summer.
  • Calas de Rocamar 🔵: a string of small coves.
  • Las Higuericas 🔵, El Puerto 🔵, El Conde 🔵 and Los Jesuitas 🔵: the beaches of Torre de la Horadada, around its 1591 watchtower.

With a dog

Dogs are banned from most beaches, but two coves welcome them: Cala Cabo Peñas (also called Cala Mosca II), in Orihuela Costa, and Cala del Rocío, south of Torrevieja, between Cala Ferris and Cala Piteras. Pick up after your dog and keep it under control. Where to stay: Casa Lagunas Mirasal in Torrevieja accepts dogs, and our apartment with large terrace in Punta Prima accepts small dogs.

Our tips

  • Go early in summer: before 10am, it's easier to find a parking space near the coves.
  • Check the flag: green, swimming allowed; yellow, take care; red, no swimming.
  • Out of season: the beaches stay open and are often almost empty, perfect for a walk by the sea.
